A fun light hearted festival wedding - Katie

I first met Katie back in August 2021 at my very first wedding fayre, the wedding festival, in Guernsey. She'd seen my designs online and already had an idea of how we could combine them to make her dream bridal look. She was in the early stages of planning a laid back festival themed wedding for September 2022.

When we started discussing ideas and as we met to look at fabrics etc I knew we were the perfect designer- bride match. Katie wanted a dress that reflected her personality and not something traditionally bridal. She knew that often brides end up wearing something because they feel they have to look like a 'bride' and do what other brides do, but Katie wanted to look and feel like her on her special day, and together we made sure of that!

Katies day was a fun, light hearted, festival themed day, with her husbands band as the headline act. There were dried flowers and flower crowns that her mum spent months working on, food vans, tractors and sequins, and Katie’s festival theme was nailed!

We created an adaptation of our Lola dress with a v back and covered buttons, made from a gorgeous microfiber satin. And to be worn underneath, a long sleeved bridal crop top made from the beaded leaf veil fabric with matching covered buttons as the center back feature. The beaded leaf fabric worked a dream as a little top and the delicate beading and sequins added that festival touch alongside the underarm fringe, also taken from an existing veil design. A total combination of all things The Boho Bride melted into one as a bespoke design for Katie.

I asked Katie whether there was anything in particular that she was worried about in the lead up to her wedding and she said she was  ‘worrying if people would have a good time and if I’m honest, spilling something on my dress!! But everyone who celebrated with us had so much love to give and by the end of the wedding I realised I’d been far too busy having fun to worry about the odd grass or cider stain!’

When I asked what her favourite part of the day was, Katie reminisced: ‘dancing with my favourite people to my husbands band was the best feeling- spirits were high, I was so incredibly happy and it’s a moment I’d like to revisit again and again.’

Katie’s top tip for brides to be is THE best advice. She said ‘take your time enjoying the little details and remember that this day is all about celebrating the love between you and your partner, not trying to please everyone else!’  I think it’s so easy when wedding planning to get caught up in the whirlwind that is weddings and worry about keeping everyone happy, doing what you ‘should’ do and wearing what you ‘should’ wear, but your wedding is your day and a celebration of your love, so make it you and do it just how you want to.

And finally I asked Katie about her experience with The Boho Bride and she said: ‘Kezia was an absolute dream to work with from start to finish and made the process of creating a beautiful dress for me such an enjoyable and relaxed experience. I really can’t recommend her skills, knowledge and kindness enough- thank you Kezia.’

Thank you Katie, for being the most beautiful, laid back, kind hearted bride. I loved every second of the process, from the design stages, dress construction, every fitting that your mum was at with us to chat about the wedding prep and plans, to the day your final photos landed in my inbox.

I’m so excited for more bespoke Boho Brides to come and to be able to share these beautiful brides with you! If you have any questions about a bespoke The Boho Bride look or how the process works, don’t hesitate to pop me a message, let’s get chatting!
