BLOG POST ONE

Well, welcome, I guess? Is that what you say at the start of a blog? I’m not quite sure. This is all very new to me and a little bit daunting to be perfectly honest!! But, I wanted to create a space on my website to share bridal tips, advice, guidance and real bride experiences for preparing for your big day.

First, let me re-introduce myself to those who may not know me. I’m Kezia, the founder designer, maker and all round one man band behind The Boho Bride. I began the gradual set up of The Boho Bride at the start of 2020 in my flat in London and by March, while the world had a little meltdown, (I had a fair share of meltdowns throughout that year too!!) I decided it was the perfect time to go full throttle, and this little bridal-wear world was ready to launch in June 2020.

The world of female run small business on social media is a strange one, there’s a lot of competition and it’s so easy to compare yourself, but it is also full of the most supportive, kind, caring women and so much positive inspiration. Launching a small business online came with a bizarre daunting pressure to make hundreds of sales within the first 24 hours…that didn’t happen. In fact my very first ‘proper’ sale wasn’t until I launched my Etsy shop in early October, 4.5 months after the launch of my business.

Since then I’ve worked on 7 styled shoots as well as multiple personal product shoots in order to build up the material to showcase my designs. My little business has featured in 7 magazines (incl. three issues of British Vogue!!), 4 wedding blogs and I’ve taken part in my first wedding fayre. I’ve met the most incredible wedding suppliers and small business owners along the way and since moving to Guernsey I’ve continued to meet amazing supplier friends who have encouraged and supported me in my little business journey. (In fact, they’re the ones who encouraged me to start this blog!)

Now, 1.5 years since the launch of my business and I've sold 5 dresses, 40 veils, 47 bows, 74 embroidered jumpers and over 250 masks! (I don’t think I ever want to make a mask again...) I don’t know if that seems a lot or a little to you, but for me, it makes all the tears, tantrums, stress and worry worth it. It makes me look back and feel proud of myself for pushing through, setting up a business during a global pandemic, and whilst the bridal industry was on hold!! It drives me to keep pushing forward, to keep launching new products, working on my business and to keep being creative in my design process.

This has become a little bit like a personal journal, apologies. But I’m excited to look back on this in years to come and see what else I have achieved. I’m excited to keep making my little dream a reality and work with so many more brides to make them feel incredible on their special day.

This blog is (I promise) going to be a space where some of the brides I have worked with can share their top tips and advice for wedding planning alongside the gorgeous photos from their special day. I will also be writing up my own top tips for choosing your dream dress, where to start, how to accessorise and all things bridal wear advice.

If you’re reading this, thank you. Whether its just my family, my best friends, other small business owners or brides-to-be, thank you, and I cant wait to continue on this little journey together…

Ps. If you’re a Boho Bride and have some gorgeous wedding photos showing off your dress or veil please do get in touch for the chance to feature on the blog.
