A relaxed, romantic staycation wedding - Sommy

Gorgeous bride Sommy had an incredible three part wedding day that included a traditional ceremony, a Nigerian ceremony and then the party! And we were so honoured to be asked to make her veil for the first ceremony and bespoke dress for the party.

Sommy and Ryans overall theme for the wedding was a relaxed romantic staycation vibe where they could create an intimate party atmosphere. And by the looks of their photos they did just that! The party vibe was definitely a running theme and Sommy (a wedding planner herself) had an incredible team behind her to pull together her special day. (All suppliers tagged below.)

We made her gorgeous bespoke length pearl veil that was three metres long and 1.5 metres wide and worked so incredibly well with her Halo and Wren wedding dresss. The length of the veil extending past the hem of the dress created an amazing added drama to her look as she walked down the aisle.

Sommy’s top tips for any brides just starting out on their wedding planning journey is to ‘write all your ideas down that you would like to have for your wedding, before other influences from family etc confuse you both from what you originally wanted.’

I think this advice is invaluable, its so easy to be swayed by everyone else's opinions on your day. And too many ideas can just result in a day thats not very you! This is also so applicable when searching for your dress and veil, dont be tempted to go for something just because its tradition or because its something someone else has told you would work well. Decide what it is that you want and run with it.

All the brides I speak to after their wedding always admit that the thing they were most worried about was totally un-necessary on the day. And Sommy was no different, her biggest worry was ‘if everyone was going to have fun and had enough to do, they definitely did and had a packed day!’

We also created Sommys gorgeous dress for the evening of her wedding. Sommy came to us with an idea and lots of inspiration images. We worked together to create a design that in the end was an adaptation of our Aria dress with added floral pieces to the bodice and a detachable 3d floral tulle skirt.

Sommys review of her experience with The Boho Bride:

‘Kezia was amazing creating the vision and overall look of this dress. I sent so much inspo and she did an amazing job of streamlining the finished product! She was involved through every step, with sketches and emailed updates so I always felt everything was on track. Of course when I received the dress and veil, it was everything I had dreamed of and more! This experience added so much to my wedding planning journey, making it feel so special and personalised. Thank you Kezia!’

Thank you for choosing us to be part of your day Sommy, I loved every stage of the process and you looked so incredibly gorgeous and happy on your big day!
